PODCAST

Podcasts and Screencasts are great online media outlets that allow you to reach out to people all over the world and there are a lot of topics to choose from based on your interests. Most of the tools that we have explored in this course have been based off of visuals and text, whereas podcasts and screencasts broaden our learning of the digital world because they allow face to “face” communication and the loss of translation through text does not occur. In terms of digital rights and responsibilities podcasts allow you to communicate your opinions freely, however it is important to ensure that you are respecting other people's privacy and not being hurtful. Although podcasts are a great online platform, it is significantly important that you uphold your digital citizenship while creating them for others to view. If you prefer to be a part of the listening audience of podcasts, it is also important to respect others in the comment sections and the podcasters themselves.

I am not new to the podcast world as I have watched several on Youtube and listen to some on Soundcloud. However, this is the first time that I have ever made a podcast and it was quite an interesting experience! It's a nice contrast to blogging because your audience can actually hear you communicate your points instead of read them and interpret them on their own. As I mentioned in my podcast, they are very effective in getting a point across during a lesson or in a presentation. In the future, I could utilize podcasts in my own classroom in order to include a different form of media and perspective.

What’s your perspective on podcasts, do you like them? Do you think that podcasts are a social platform that you would be interested in pursuing?

Happy podcasting!
